What is Oud?

Oud is a naturally fragrant wood which comes from the Aquilaria species of trees. These trees only grow in very specific tropical climates, mainly in SE Asia. When infected, the tree's wood develops a beautifully fragrant resin which is burned on a coal and used as a top quality bakhoor (incense). Depending on the tree's region, the smell can range from spicy and smoky, to sweet and fruity.

What is the difference between Oud & Bakhoor?

Bakhoor is the general term used to describe incense burning. Many people are unaware that regular bakhoor can use any type of wood chip from any type of tree with a special focus on the perfumed oil that is added to it. Oud is unique as it is solely associated with the Agarwood Aquilaria tree. The aroma of Oud provides what many describe as a relaxing sensation.
